The Genoverse just got more competitive with the launch of our latest feature: Step Battle. But it's more than just a feature; it's a realm of connection, competition, and camaraderie that's redefining the way we engage with our virtual companions and fellow Genovians.

The Essence of Step Battles

At its core, Step Battle introduces a unique form of competition where the battleground isn't a sprawling arena or a digital landscape, but the steps you take every day. Imagine challenging not just your personal best, but friends, family members, and players across the globe to a step-based showdown. It's a playful yet spirited way to see who can amass the most steps within a designated time frame. Your Genopet’s Augments and Level will boost your battle score too, so upgrade your Genopet’s speed to get an extra advantage The allure of discovering who reigns as the ultimate step champion is simply irresistible.

A Truly Global Contest

But how can one competition span the vast expanse of time zones? Fear not; Genopets has it covered. The Step Battle competition adapts to your timezone, ensuring that each participant enjoys a fair and level playing field. When a battle is created, a starting date will be selected and the competition will start for each player at 12:00am in their timezone. It's a global contest that respects the boundaries of time, guaranteeing that everyone gets their well-deserved shot at the crown.

Tailoring the Competition to Your Style

Variety is the spice of life, and Genopets understands that. That’s why you're not confined to a single competition; instead, you have the power to engage in multiple Step Battles simultaneously. And what's more, you have the freedom to dictate the duration of the battle. Whether you're in the mood for a quick one-day showdown or a week-long marathon, the choice is yours.

Energy: Betting on Yourself

Do you know the phrase, “Put your money where your mouth is”? Well in Genopets, you can put your Energy where your mouth is. Within a Step Battle, you have the option to wager Energy on your own step-taking capabilities. It's a powerful statement of confidence in your walking prowess and a unique way to infuse extra excitement into the competition. The stakes are raised, and every step becomes a strategic maneuver.

The Choice of Privacy or Public Spectacle

Step Battle offers the flexibility of public and private competitions. In the grand Genopets tradition of unity and camaraderie, public battles are the default setting—meaning anyone in the Genoverse can join. To start a private battle, you must simply wager at least 1 Energy. You’ll then be able to extend invitations to your chosen crew by sharing a unique code. This code ensures that only those you invite can step onto the battleground.

Chat: Where Conversations Fuel the Fire

Communication fuels connection and Step Battle takes this to heart with an integrated chat feature. Engage in friendly banter, provide encouragement, or even strategize with your opponents. The chat feature also serves as your window into the competition, keeping you informed about significant moves made by fellow players, including those epic "megabanks."

Strategies: When to Hold, When to Bank

The strategic dimension of Step Battles is captivating. Your steps don't automatically contribute to the competition; you need to bank them to make them count. This adds an element of intrigue – will you hold your steps until the final hour to catch your opponents off guard, or will you consistently bank throughout the day, showcasing your unwavering commitment?

Augments: The Secret to Stepping Ahead

For those eyeing victory, Augments are your not-so-secret weapon. They add to your overall step battle score based on the speed stats of your Augments. They won’t replace walking, but outfitting your Genopet with Augments featuring Speed Boosts could be the edge that propels you to triumph. As the Genopets team battles have shown, Augments can sway the tide in a closely contested competition by a few thousand steps. However, these are STEP battles so a willingness to walk and get those steps in is still paramount to securing the ultimate victory!

This is the first introduction of Augment stats to competitive gameplay in Genopets. Join the discussion on Discord to learn more about Augments in step battles and share your feedback as we continue to iterate on their in-game effects.

In Genopets, Step Battles transcend the ordinary, transforming steps into stories of connection, competition, and triumph. Whether you're engaging in friendly rivalry or strategizing to outwit opponents, every step becomes a memorable moment in this exhilarating journey. With Step Battles, the question isn't just "How many steps can you take?" – it's "How far can you step towards victory?"
